Pennant BYES

16 Feb by Brett Penyu

Please see below information from ACT bowls conditions of play regarding the byes in our Grade 1 & 4 this year.

Section 3 – ACT Pennants
3.17 – Byes
No points shall be awarded to a side when it receives the bye.

3.21 Finishing Positions (a) Positions after the completion of the home-and-away rounds, including positions within a section, shall be determined from the highest to lowest as follows:
(i) the side having the greatest number of points if level on points,

(ii) the side with the highest margin (shots for minus shots against)

(iii) if level on points and margin, then the highest shot percentage (shots for divided by shots against) if two or more sides are still level, steps (i), (ii), and (iii) shall be recalculated in respect of only the matches between the sides that are level to determine the relative position of those sides. Match points and shots are to be calculated pro rata if the sides in contention have played an unequal number of games under this clause.
(iv) if sides are still level, the positions between the sides that are level shall be decided by the toss of a coin (if there are two sides) or by lot (if more than two sides).

(b) Where a side in a grade, or in a section, has received more Byes than another side in the home-and-away rounds, the positions after the completion of the home-and-away rounds shall be determined by first dividing the match points, and the aggregate shots for and against for each club by the number of matches played by the club (i.e. excluding Byes) and then applying Clause 3.21 (a).
